At Konpa, the menu highlights nikkei cuisine, the harmony of Japanese cooking techniques fused with the rich ingredients of Peruvian cuisine. Inspired by his Japanese heritage and his travels to Peru, Yamaguchi has made it his mission to provide his rendition of nikkei food to his community, all while using fresh quality ingredients.

History of Nikkei Cuisine
Lima and Tokyo, 9,999 miles apart. In 1899, Peru saw its first Japanese immigrants arrive, seeking opportunities to work in the mines and on sugar plantations. The Japanese diaspora in Peru had a lasting impact, as Peru is home to the second largest Japanese population in South America. As the two cultures learned from one another, they crafted one of the world’s finest culinary mashups. Nikkei, a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian culinary traditions. This style of cooking harmoniously blends the ingredients, techniques and flavors from both countries. Nikkei cuisine is a core influence of Japanese precision and techniques, paired with Peru’s vibrant and diverse ingredients.
